How to Line a Sock Sack

There is a really nice tutorial for making a neat little sack with a zippered front pocket at:

http://terryatkinson.typepad.com/atkinsondesigns/2009/06/sock-sack.html

The only thing is, it's not lined. I like lined pouches, you don't have any raw seams to deal with. So here are my instructions to line the pouch. Let me know what you think.

Under "Cutting" add a 7.5 inches x 20 inches main color piece -- this will be the lining.

Follow the sock sack directions up to "Casings", continue following the directions and stop when you get to "Stitch a 1/4" seam ..."

Set your sack aside for now ...

Take your 7.5"x20" lining piece and fold it in half to make it 10". Sew both 10" sides using a 1/4" seam. Mark the centers of the 7.5" opening.

With right sides together, slide the sock sack into the lining. Match centers.

Pin all around the top, stitch using a 1/4" seam and leaving approximately a 2" opening. (This is a bad photo but I hope you can see the 2" opening.)

Turn the sock sack right side out through this 2" opening.

Smooth the opening edges so they match the seams on both sides and pin the opening closed. With the lining on the outside, top stitch around the upper edge (like sewing around the inside of a barrel) closing the opening.

Continue the original instructions starting at "Ties".
